As I read this, I can't help but think about non-profit organizations including universities and religious organizations, many of which are much longer lived. The catholic church, for example, is a much older institution than basically anything discussed here. Many universities are also very long lived.
Very true. I put a tiny snippet about non commercial entities but it could've been much longer! The church is an incredible interesting enterprise, though I'm not sure I'm qualified to figure out what I should learn from them. I'm not Steve Jobs.
One interesting thing about churches and universities is that their chance of survival goes up with every passing year.
Its great to know information through this read and thanks for the share Rohit. Any insights as to what makes these companies survive for over 100 years. Any similarities found? or is it a cultural thing. If survival does mean focussing on a core competency then what else can it be?
